Meaning & symbolism
A hydrated copper silicate, often poorly crystalline, that forms in the oxidation zone of copper deposits alongside malachite, azurite and quartz. Its sky blue to teal colour comes from copper. Soft and porous when pure, much harder when intergrown with chalcedony, which is the form most often sold as jewellery.
How to use it
Carry a piece before a difficult conversation and set one sentence you intend to say. Hold it at the throat or rest it on the sternum in meditation. Pair it with amazonite for the same territory, or with lapis lazuli when the truth is one you have been hiding from yourself.
Cleansing & care
Keep pure chrysocolla out of water and salt entirely: it is soft and porous. Quartz-hosted pieces tolerate a brief rinse. Cleanse with smoke, sound, moonlight or a dry selenite plate. Do not make elixirs and do not grind it without a mask.
