Dalmatian jasper is a creamy white, granular igneous rock from Chihuahua, Mexico, made mostly of alkali feldspar and quartz and scattered with black spots of a sodium-rich amphibole usually identified as arfvedsonite. Rusty brown spots are iron oxides where the dark mineral has weathered. It is not a true jasper, and its name comes from the spotted Dalmatian dog.
