Meditating with Crystals

A simple five-minute practice for beginners, step by step.

Meditating with Crystals

Meditating with a crystal is one of the easiest ways to begin a practice. Choose a single stone, perhaps amethyst for calm or clear quartz for focus, and find a quiet place to sit.

How to begin

Hold the stone in your open palm or rest it where you can feel its weight. Close your eyes, take a few slow breaths, and let your attention return to the cool, steady presence of the stone whenever your mind wanders. Five minutes is plenty.

Keep it simple

There is no wrong way to do this. The stone is simply an anchor for your attention, and consistency matters far more than ceremony.

Questions about this guide

Calm, clear stones are traditional favourites for stillness. Amethyst is loved for its quieting tone, clear quartz for its sense of clarity, and selenite for its soft, settling presence during reflection.
