How to work with them
Tradition pairs different stones with different kinds of fear. Carnelian is the usual choice for taking the first frightening step, tiger's eye for staying steady under pressure, and bloodstone for standing your ground with another person. Red jasper is the grounding stone for fears the body feels, aquamarine supports speaking up, and sunstone suits the courage of being seen. Garnet is the old stone of perseverance. These are traditional associations, best used as a physical cue for a decision you have already made, alongside small steps practised one at a time.
Whichever stone you choose, cleanse it when it's new and now and then after. Our cleansing guide walks through seven gentle methods.
